The Harvard Crypto, Fintech & Web3 Lab

Our mission is to to contribute to fundamental knowledge that shapes the way Web3 and related technologies are applied by companies and entrepreneurs.

ABOUT US

A new era of the Internet is upon us.

Web3 holds the potential to fundamentally reshape the Internet and revolutionize how business is conducted. Particularly leveraging blockchain based technologies that enable decentralization, open networks and protocols and digital ownership — opening the door to new business models, products and services.

The Crypto, Fintech, and Web3 Lab collaborates with the broader Web3 industry and communities to drive rigorous research in this important and emerging field. Researchers will explore token systems, governance models, incentives, and evaluate how Web3 is impacting finance, entrepreneurship, and the broader economy.

The goal of the Lab’s research is to contribute to fundamental knowledge, shape the way these technologies are applied towards innovation, efficiency, and inclusion and inform companies, entrepreneurs and industry stakeholders.

The Crypto, Fintech and Web3 Lab is housed under Harvard’s Digital, Data and Design (D^3) Institute, a collection of labs and initiatives exploring the future of technology.
